POWERS MUSEUM OF CARTHAGE HISTORY HAS CLOSED To the Public

Opened in 1988, the museum's collection included the initial Marian Powers Winchester bequest and objects and archival material on Carthage, Missouri and the nearby area, donated from many donors. The museum showcased its holdings through annual changing exhibits, digital projects, and public programming. The Board of Trustees of the Powers Museum thanks everyone that supported the museum through gifts and/or who visited one of our many exhibits or programs.

The Powers Museum’s name honored the parents of Marian Powers Winchester, Dr. Everett Powers and Marian Wright Powers, who were active in the economic, social, and cultural development of Carthage in the first half of the twentieth century. Their family letter collection has been donated to the State Historical Society of Missouri, Springfield Research Center and will be available in the future after processing.

Museum has re-homed core Carthage collections to various local and regional museums, archives and other cultural heritage organizations. Digital projects will remain available.
